Basic Homemade Granola
A true staple in our house. Simple, but endlessly customizable: add your favorite nuts, dried fruit, cacao nibs, or whatever you are feeling.
I have been making this for years. The base is worth learning, because once you have it the variations are endless.
Ingredients
- 4 cups oats, old fashioned or steel cut
- 1 and 1/2 cups raw chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Method
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir.
- Press the granola flat onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake at 350F for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Let it cool completely before breaking it into chunks.
- Pour into a bowl and enjoy.
Make it yours
- Swap the walnuts for pecans, almonds or a mix.
- Add dried fruit or cacao nibs after baking, not before.
- Pressing it flat and leaving it undisturbed is what gives you clusters.
